What can be a better way to thank a soldier during July 4 weekend than to capture his beautiful wedding at 3 AM? We were honored to be part of Carrie and Michael’s military wedding at the Sister’s Catering and Garden. Marc Dabagian and his team made this wedding special by staying open until 4 AM even though Marc and his staff were scheduled to return to work next morning at 9 AM.
This wedding was planned for just a few hours in the early evening. Mica was the lead photographer for this wedding and was eager to be among the military again, as it reminds her so much of her Dad. Many members of Carrie’s family are military. I was out for dinner with our 3 y/o, when Mica called me to let me know that the wedding was delayed by an hour since Michael had been held up in his travel. And the hour became couple of hours. Finally, the family decided to go ahead with the dinner plans and rescheduled the wedding to 1am. Once all was set, Michael’s brother and his wife were sent out to Charlotte, the only airport that Michael could fly into at the late hour. Carrie was confident that Michael would be in by midnight and all would go as planned from there. By midnight, Sister’s staff was preparing the venue for another wedding which was scheduled next day. But, Marc was kind enough to keep the facility open for the family. Mica and I have worked with Marc several times and we have very high regard for his professionalism and this is one of the reasons why!
It being so late, I decided to join Mica. Carrie and Michael’s wedding guests spent hours waiting. Carrie, of course, spent long hours on the phone. Finally, Michael and his brother arrived at Sister’s around 2am. This is an example of the sacrifices which families of men & women in uniforms make on daily basis (Michael is in the Army). Marc had the coffee station going for guests and thank goodness they were all patient! Carrie was all smiles when Michael got there – her long wait was over! Mica and I captured this wedding in different styles (one of the benefits to our brides when we work together). Mica captured majority of the images. I focused on dramatic lighting and also used blue palette for some of the images.
The ceremony was officiated by Carrie’s grandfather, a Retired Air Force flight mechanic. And after the ceremony, there was cake, and toasts! We loved capturing portrait images of the bride and groom. Carrie and Michael were sent off with the sparkle and sparklers. It was 4 am for the patient limo driver and it was time for us to head home…
