I have been fortunate to work with many nice couples and I can add Tina and Divakar to that list! Another Doctor couple (this may come in handy during my old age!)! I had met Tina only once, and met Divakar just day before the wedding. Both were easy to work with and I found them to be very kind and caring. When you work long hours photographing Indian weddings, support from bride and her family is a blessing.
The wedding ceremony took place at the Hall and Gardens at Landmark and the reception was held at the Grand Marquise Ballroom. There were several wedding events. During the three days of wedding events, there was a threat of rain and storms. This was of concern since the wedding ceremony was scheduled to be outdoors at Landmark. But, everything worked out and I am happy to have captured and created some great images of this beautiful wedding. The first event I photographed was Tina’s pithi at her home in North Raleigh. The pithi started with the pooja and was followed by Tina’s family members applying pithi. And then there was lunch- homemade!
Many times, the pre-wedding ceremonies are at home. The religious portion of ceremony requires the setup to be in a certain way. That sometimes means working in tight spaces! However, I use that as an opportunity to capture many close-ups and candids. I had the opportunity to observe Tina and family’s closeness and love for each other. I was especially moved by Tina’s relationship with her younger sister- Krisa. As you would see, there are many images of two sisters interacting with each other. Krisa, along with her parents, helped plan the entire wedding. She even did spectacular dance performances during Sangeet and Reception.
I will be posting other events in next few days. Here is a sneak preview of Tina and Divakar’s first pre-wedding event- Tina’s pithi. Enjoy!
