Rashmi and Tarun’s Wedding Ceremony was scheduled early at the Hindu Bhavan of Fayetteville (The Temple). I had photographed their Sangeet and Rashmi’s pithi previous night. I started the morning by capturing Rashmi’s hair and makeup session. Rashmi’s nose ring was one of the biggest I had seen lately! And her beautiful dress weighed almost as much as my 3 y/o son! And when you look at her beautiful photos you won’t believe that she had hardly slept for couple of hours!
I did Rashmi’s portrait session at the Temple. She looked absolutely beautiful! Then it was time for Tarun’s baraat. Baraat was preceded by groom’s sehra bandi ceremony. Tarun’s baraat took of in style with Tarun riding on a white horse! DJ Sohil (DJ Hangama) and his associate Chintan provided the music for baraat and also helped me out with my camera gear. The Milni ceremony was fun! During the milni, bride’s family welcomes groom and his family with gifts as token of good luck.
The ceremony rituals followed. The Mandap was setup on the stage. Once the ceremony started most of the rituals were performed on the stage. Now it was Rashmi’s turn to arrive in the style: carried on a peacock doli! There were social rituals and family portraits. The bidai (bride’s send off) was emotional as always. Rashmi and Tarun left the wedding venue on a horse-drawn carriage. The lunch was at the Fayetteville DoubleTree hotel. And then it was time for me to head back to Raleigh.
Rashmi and Tarun’s reception was held a week later in Texas. I did not get the opportunity to photograph this wedding celebration. However, we shared highlight video clip and images for the slideshow. Another beautiful wedding. Congratulations to Rashmi and Tarun!
