I am starting this week on a good note. Just found out that one of the Indian weddings from last year: Rakhee and Hiten, has been nominated for ISES Espirit Award for the Best Event Photography! There were 3 entries chosen for this international award. I will find out in August if we will win this award. But, I am thankful and honored to have received the nomination. I also happened to meet Rakhee at Avni and Gurpawan’s wedding! It is a small world and good words from past clients have helped me click in the highly competitive field of wedding photography. I also look forward to attending the Trinity Awards function of the local ISES chapter tonight. I have entered not only photography but also one of my live wedding painting commissions from the last year.
I had recently photographed Bhumi and Viren’s Indian wedding at the Magnolia Room in Rock Hill SC (right outside of Charlotte). Avni and Gurpawan’s wedding was one of the longest weddings I have ever photographed! Two baraats, two ceremonies, cocktail hour, reception and a mini-portrait session- all in a single day! The garba was the night before and was held at the Hindu Center of Charlotte. Garba is always a fun casual social event. The unique aspect of this garba was the fusion of garba and traditional punjabi music and dance! DJ Hangama started the evening with traditional Gujarati garba tunes and then mixed in punjabi music. The couple and guests enjoyed dancing to both! There was variety of food and for me the best part was the real Chai! Always a welcome beverage when I am on the road. It was also good to see some of my friends and well-wishers from Raleigh! I also enjoyed the challenge of taking good Dandiya photos! The Dandiya action is fast and you have to work quickly!
The photography will begin next morning bright and early! At 6 AM! It was time for me to catch some sleep and get ready for the long fun day…
