Another fun event I photographed during the busy month of September! Earlier, I had posted Dhiran and Dipna’s e-session images on my blog. Surati weddings are huge social events. There are more social customs and rituals during a Surati pre-wedding ceremony than an average Indian wedding ceremony.
Dhiran’s pre-wedding ceremony was at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in the Morehead City, NC. Prashant Shah (Prashant Video Production) and I travelled to Havelock the previous night. There were strong storms during the night, but, it cleared up next morning. The Civic Center is spacious with lot of natural light. The center is right on the water (Bogue Sound). Pravin Shukla was the priest for this ceremony. Shuklaji was the priest at Rakhee and Hiten’s Wedding which I had photographed just 2-3 days ago (we will be working together at an elaborate Indian wedding in October).
The vidhi was in the morning, followed by the pithi, The pithi was fun! Dhiran’s bhabhis had him covered with the yellow paste pretty good! And Dhiran took his revenge by rubbing the pithi back on each one! The Satak was in the afternoon. You take many many group shots at the Surati events. There were many rituals, gifts and of course the famous Surati food! I stayed to taste this very spicy food. I like to cook, taste and photograph the food (I also get commissioned for the commercial food photography. I look forward to working with a major food company next year). I often blof about the food and recipes. You can check out my food blog: https://raleighfoodphotography.wordpress.com/
Dhiran’s baraat was scheduled to leave for Atlanta GA next morning. I headed back to Raleigh in the evening…
