I had photographed Mitali and Viru’s Surati (Indian) wedding earlier this month. This was an elaborate wedding with multiple events! The Pithi was the first event I photographed. The venue for Pithi was Johnston County Agricultural Center (Smithfield, NC). Surati weddings are intricate, so,working with Prashant Video Production and Priest Pravin Shukla was a huge help! I also had the opportunity to work with Le Reve Creations.
The pithi was scheduled in the morning. There were many rituals- both religious and social. Surati weddings are always very social! You can expect to photograph many family members, friends and guests. One advice I can share is that do not bring your little flash to photograph a Surati wedding! It probably will not survive! You will also enjoy delicious food and it will be very spicy! This is what makes photographing Indian weddings fun!
Mitali was a beautiful bride. I enjoyed capturing many candid images. The part of the ceremony was outside. The lunch was served at the Sleep Inn in Garner. It was Pav Bhaji- one of my favorite foods (You can’t blame me, I have spent quite a few years in Mumbai!)! And as you can expect, it was spicy! Especially, when garnished with raw onions and sprinkled with hot chile powder.
The next event to photograph was Satak…
